You wake in the middle of the jungle. The sun is just coming up, the howler monkeys are loud enough to be your alarm clock, and monkeys are climbing in the trees outside your window. Nothing around you but green, warm air, and wildlife.
Five minutes up the lane is the Caribbean Sea, and it is raw. Unmanicured, because it does not need to be. Some mornings the sea is wild, waves going in every direction. Many mornings it is still and crystal clear, turquoise and blue and green, warm enough to wade straight in. The jungle runs all the way down to the sand, palms leaning over the beach. Floating there, looking back at that green shore, no big buildings, no traffic, no noise beyond the sounds of nature itself. Every single day, it is unbelievable.
Every day has the same gentle rhythm. Sunrise yoga, a chef’s breakfast, the day’s excursion, lunch and leisure, treatments scheduled one by one, breathwork, sauna and cold plunge, a chef’s dinner, and something easy in the evening. The excursions change with each retreat. This is a sample week.
A private chef cooks for the house, and every meal is made from scratch. Mornings begin with fresh Costa Rican coffee and herbal teas, a colorful spread of tropical fruit, chia pudding, granola, Greek yogurt, custom fruit smoothies, and warm banana bread. Eggs are made to order, any way you like, with cheese, bacon, sausage or chorizo, and there is avocado toast with seeds and feta cheese.
Dinners are local and Caribbean: tender chicken in coconut sauce, garlic prawns, fresh grilled red snapper with sweet potato fries, spicy Jamaican jerk chicken with caramelized plantains, and a custom bowl night with sliced sirloin and chimichurri. Dessert is made from scratch too: passion fruit cheesecake, dark chocolate cacao mousse, coconut brulee. To drink, ginger lemonade, or coconut water straight from the shell. Lunch is lighter and chef prepared. Dietary preferences are happily accommodated, including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free, just let us know before you arrive.
Each casita is tucked into the gardens, completely private, surrounded by trees, palms, and its own little herb garden. The walls are almost entirely windows, so you can lie in a king bed in the middle of the rainforest, with air conditioning and natural linens. Every casita has its own kitchen, covered patio, and plunge pool. At night, pick herbs from your garden and make your tea.
When it is time to come together, everyone gathers at the main house for meals and conversation. The sauna, cold plunge, and covered yoga shala sit at the heart of the property. It is a balance: your own peaceful place to retreat to, while still being part of something special.
